Oceans Between Us

The other night, you and I were doing the same thing, at the same time, both of us wishing we could do it together, both of us knowing it… but neither of us could bring ourselves… neither of us managed to breach that gap.

We were no more than two minutes away from each other, and yet there may as well have been oceans between us.

How long can we do this to ourselves? How long can we do this to them? We've been good, so carefully toeing up to the line, but never, ever crossing it… not more than a toetip, at any rate. We look at each other and know each others' hearts. And yet…

Oh, my love. This minefield we're navigating together is treacherous, to be sure. And sometimes we stall, sometimes we take a step backward, sometimes I embarrass myself. But it will be worth it. I may not be certain of very many things, but of that… I am absolutely certain. This love is worth it. You. Are worth it.
